From the Chairman’s Desk

During the past 70 years Pakistan has made remarkable progress in every field from political participation to rights of women and other marginalized groups, and from economy to its standing in the international community. However, it remains a fact that this progress is being challenged both internally and externally by several factors – extremism, terrorism, governance issues, hostile neighbourhood, great-power rivalry in the region and the rapidly changing geo-political environment, just to name a few.

As IPI begins its journey coinciding with the country’s 70th Independence Anniversary, its essential strategic goal is to make itself recognized as a research-led think tank, while maintaining intellectual presence at the heart of debates on national issues in the country.

IPI’s research would cover subjects as diverse as its external relations particularly with those in the immediate and extended neighbourhood and the new alignments emerging there; economy; governance; and the fight against violent extremism and terrorism. We would strive to contribute to policy debate with new perspectives and flexible ideas.

IPI would work as an independent policy research and advocacy institute. We at the same time endorse the view that Pakistan’s future lies in pursuing the progressive, constitutional, and democratic path.I would appreciate your continued guidance and support for IPI in the years to come.
